Elmir Nizamov was born on December 24, 1986 in Ulyanovsk, Russia. In 2011, he graduated from the Kazan State Conservatory with a degree in Composition, and in 2014 he obtained a PhD from the same university.
He authored numerous chamber-instrumental, symphonic and choral works, romances and songs, as well as music for theatrical productions and films. In 2013, one of his highly acclaimed works for a large symphony orchestra titled the Heaven Motion represented Russia at the “International Tribune for Contemporary Music” competition organized by the UNESCO, the International Music Council, and the European Broadcasting Union.
Elmir Nizamov’s Altyn Kazan (the Golden Kazan) written in 2011, became the first ever Tatar musical. In 2015, his opera Kara Pulat (the Black Chamber) was awarded the Republican Theater Award Tantana as the Event of the Year. Twice—in 2017 and in 2019, Elmir Nizamov was nominated for the Golden Mask National Theater Award.
His music can be heard both on the philharmonic stage and in opera, ballet, experimental theaters, as well as in popular music concerts. The music of Elmir Nizamov, which combines different styles and musical traditions, is performed by a wide variety of musical groups and performers from many countries appealing to the widest audience.
